COVID -19 Update - A safe Return to Music Tuition

Gunnedah Conservatorium continues to monitor and respond to COVID-19 Rules. New rules for Regional and Rural NSW were updated on 05 October, 2021.


From 12.01am on 5 October 2021, stay-at-home rules are in place for the local government area of Gunnedah until 11 October 2021. The stay-at-home orders will also apply to anyone who has been in Gunnedah since 27 September 2021.

The Gunnedah Conservatorium has updated its protocols for learning onsite at the Conservatorium and hired studio and hall space in line with the current restrictions to ensure:

  • The best contribution to public health outcomes; and
  • minimal disruption to ongoing music tuition

MUSIC IN SCHOOLS

  • Our music programs in local schools will proceed unless informed otherwise by our partner schools
  • Conservatorium teachers will follow all school protocols

  • Students and families attending Gunnedah Conservatorium are required to the follow the Guidelines for Face-to-Face lessons at Gunnedah Conservatorium  and monitor our website and newsletter for updates.

CONSERVATORIUM GUIDELINES FOR FACE-TO-FACE LESSONS

It is mandatory for everyone to check in using the QR code excluding students under 18 who are marked on the roll.

The following guidelines for face-to-face lessons the Conservatorium have been implemented to help protect students, staff and the community in line with the current restrictions in place across NSW. Please ensure you follow the guidelines:

  • ARE YOU WELL? Please do not attend lessons or appointments if you or any member of your household is unwell. 
  • PHYSICAL DISTANCING of 1.5 metres must be maintained at all times

  • ONLY STUDENTS, Staff and Visitors attending lessons or appointments may enter the building. Please limit siblings or friends visiting the building unnecessarily.

  • WEAR A FACE MASK  Over the age of 12, all students, staff and visitors will be required to wear a face mask onsite at the Conservatorium. Masks may be removed in the teaching studio if required to participate fully in music tuition. Please refer to Additional Information.
  • ARRIVAL Please arrive NO SOONER than 5 mins prior to lesson or appointment times.
  • SANITISE Please sanitise your hands prior to lessons or appointments.

  • SIGN IN  All student attendance at the building will be recorded by your tutors on their student roll. All other visiting adults must CHECK-IN via our QR code signage to be found throughout the building. If you are unable to CHECK-IN using the QR code – please ask for assistance at Reception.

  • YOUR SAFETY  Tutors and staff will carry out a sanitising process to all
    shared resources and high touch surfaces between students’ lessons. (eg. door handles, piano/keyboards, stands, desks, chairs). NB: music stands are for individual use only during lessons or rehearsals.

  • LEAVE DIRECTLY AFTER LESSONS  Students are asked to leave the building as soon as possible after their lessons.

STAY AT HOME RULES

Stay-at-home orders will remain in place in the following local government areas – Bathurst Regional, Bourke, City of Broken Hill, Central Coast, City of Cessnock, Dubbo Regional, Eurobodalla, Goulburn Mulwarre, Kiama, City of Lake Macquarie, City of Lithgow, City of Maitland, City of Newcastle, Port Stephens, Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional, City of Shellharbour, City of Shoalhaven, and Wingecarribee.

Children 12 years and under are exempt but are encouraged to wear masks where practicable.

Exemptions:

When you can remove your mask

A person may remove their mask if they are:

  • eating or drinking
  • communicating with another person who is deaf or hard of hearing.
  • at work and the nature of the work makes the wearing of a fitted face covering a risk to the person’s, or another persons’ health and safety, or where clear enunciation or visibility of your mouth is essential.
  • in a school or early education and care facility
  • working alone in an office (until another person enters)

SINGING AND DANCING

Singing by audiences at indoor shows or by congregants at indoor places of worship is not allowed.

You may only sing in non-residential indoor premises if

  • the singers are performers, and they are performing or rehearsing.
  • the premises are an educational establishment.
  • it is part of a singing lesson.

GATHERINGS EXEMPTED FROM THE SQUARE METRE RULES

  • Office buildings, farms, factories, warehouses, commercial vessels (excluding vessels providing tours or hosting functions or parties), commercial fishing operations, mining or construction sites.
  • Schools, universities, other educational institutions, or childcare facilities, excluding events that involve members of the community in addition to staff and students.
  • Early education and care facilities
