Early Childhood Music @ the Con
Gunnedah Conservatorium's early childhood music program is a wonderful introduction to the world of music for children and their families. The program develops music skills that include:
Learning takes place in an environment that is play-like and fun. Every child has the opportunity to take a turn unless they choose otherwise. Children are encouraged and supported in their participation. The children are encouraged to play, sing and dance.
Preschool classes (3-4 years, 4-5 years)
Children attend these classes on their own in small groups of 10. The program builds over two years and provides children with an opportunity to foster musical skills, including singing, listening, dramatization, playing untuned percussion instruments and improvisation.
Poco a Poco (School Stage 1: 5-8 years)
This group is designed for children in Years K-1-2. Children are taught songs and musical games to develop skills in pitch and rhythm, concentration and co-ordination, as well as activities designed to help them find their singing voice. Songs will predominantly be in unison or rounds and incorporate simple movement. Children play both melodic and non-melodic instruments and learn some beginner musicianship.
Baby / Toddler classes (from 6 months to under 3)
These classes are designed for children to be accompanied by a parent or other carer. Adult and child participate in the music activities together.
