Gunnedah Conservatorium launches new band program

Need support starting your own band? Want to brush up your on-stage skills? Our new band mentoring program is aimed at making students  gig ready!

This is a FREE program open to all Gunnedah students aged 12&up (high school) starting Thursday 12 February

When: Thursdays in Term 1 4:30-6pm from Thursday 12 February

Who: All young people with a keen interest in music 12 years & up
(you do not have to be a student at Gunnedah Conservatorium – this is open to all young people in the community!)

Gunnedah Conservatorium is starting a new youth band program aimed at supporting new bands, students who would like to join a band or soloists who would like to polish their performance! This is about developing students as performing artists in their own right – ready to take to the stage, busk, find a gig at a local café, or play at one of the Youth Band Nights.


The aim of the project is to support students develop a range of skills including:

  • instrumental/vocal work and rehearsals
  • performance skills
  • promoting your band / group / you
  • making your own merchandise
  • building a fan base
  • backline rehearsals
  • equipment set-up and care
  • sound check vs line check
  • more rehearsals
  • venue set-up, load-in
  • sound/line check
  • playing the GIG, a LIVE EVENT
  • load out
