A child safe culture is a set of values and practices that guide the attitudes and behaviour of all staff and volunteers. All employees and volunteers at Gunnedah Conservatorium have an important part to play in building a child safe culture. We place children first and are motivated to do what is best for them.

Our Child Protection Policy sets out best practice steps of:

  • establishing and maintaining a safe and secure environment;
  • procedures for recruitment of staff; processes which ensure that the conduct of all staff is professional and beyond reproach;
  • and the requirements of and processes for reporting possible breaches of the relevant legislation.

This policy has been developed in line with the NSW Ombudsman guidelines for child protection in the workplace and procedures for the management of child protection and in line with the relevant legislation regarding child protection.
